Fumigation season for Australia and New Zealand starts September 01, 2026
The annual mandatory fumigation requirement targeting the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug begins again on September 01, 2026.
This applies to all goods shipped from Germany to Australia or New Zealand on or after that date. Special packaging regulations apply to all consignments from so-called “high-risk countries” that are subject to mandatory fumigation. Among other requirements, goods must not be shrink-wrapped or wrapped in plastic film; wrapping netting, for example, may be used as an alternative. Please also note that foodstuffs, pharmaceutical products, and seeds are not permitted to be loaded into consolidated (LCL) containers. We would like to point out that LCL goods may need to be fumigated prior to September 1, 2026. Please take this into account when planning your shipments.
For goods bound for Australia, the mandatory fumigation period ends with the departure from Germany on April 30, 2027. For shipments to New Zealand, the requirement ends with ETA in New Zealand on April 30, 2027.
Please feel free to contact our export team if you have any questions or require clarification.
